A Little Too Eventful

So who knew that just leaving the house could be an even? Well I'm pretty sure that everyone out there who has kids has already learned this many times over. Well I have gotten my fair share of it this week. For the most part this whole week and its events come down mostly to one common factor: doctors and everything that goes along with them. EVENT 1: To begin with, Sunday night I came down with a mild fever of 100 Degrees. Just as a side note, this is the first fever either myself or my mother can remember me having since I was 9 so a big deal to me. It ended up being a side effect of me coming down with mastitious. No fun! Well with the help of Tylonal I made it through the night and called my Obgyn first thing in the morning where they prescribed me an antibiotic. Since Aaron was already off to class by the time I could pick it up I got to load James up and head out to Smiths. This was the first major outing to any public place. EVENT 2: Tuesday I had a dentist appointment while Aaron was at school again. So I found a willing neighbor to watch James since I would be occupied during the appointment. This was the first time I left him anywhere besides home with dad. I spent the entire appointment being anxious as can be thinking that he was surely going to be starving by the time I got back and he would be super upset but when I came to pick him up he was still asleep as I had left him. (On the plus side I have no cavities and very impressive teeth for just giving birth. The dentist said most women got 4 cavities per baby!) EVENT 3: Wednesday I woke up with with an outbreak of coldsores. But instead of being on my mouth they were outside the corner of my right eye. (This is where they originally occured when I was 2 but have never occured since) I was really concerned about this because they weren't acting like cold sores at first so I wasn't sure what it was. After making a lot of phone calls to my mom, the health department (I had recieved a chicken pox vaccination after James was born and didn't know if it was a reaction) and finding a dermatologist to take me in asap. It was determined that it was either a Herpes outbreak or Shingles but both are treated the same so it didn't matter which it was. Of course I had to leave James with a neighbor again while I went to my appointment. On the plus side my grandparents stopped by to see James and for a short visit. It was a nice break from the rest of the stressful day. EVENT 4: James 2 week appointment was today. Fortunatly I didn't have to find a babysitter for this appointment seeing as it was for him and it didn't deal with illness. He passed with flying colors weighing in at 7lb 10oz (1 lb from birth) and 21 inches (1.5 inches from birth) everything seems to be great with him. This last picture was taken when we got home from the appointment. We were all pretty worn out. So I am looking forward to not having to pack James up in the car seat tomorrow and staying home and catching up on all the laundry that I haven't done since he was born. I'm hoping that next week is much less eventful and that I don't have to find a babysitter again for at least a little while and hopefully it will be for a date not a doctor.

Sounds (and looks) like you are an amazing mom already! He's a cute little guy to be sure! Also seems like you are adjusting well to having a newborn. :)

Welcome to motherhood, it probably won't slow down much.
