Day 3

Here we are on day 3. Madeline is still doing well although she did have a set back last night that will keep us in the PICU another day. She started having some arithmia (irregular heart beat). It is a fairly regular reaction after heart surgery but it is one more thing we will have to watch and she will have medication for. However her rash has clear up and we think she has a reaction to the morphine so they moved her to a different pain killer. She also had two of her three chest tubes removed this morning (which I had to step out for, I couldn't handle it). So she is down to her oxygen, IV line, and pace wires (she hasn't used them but they like to keep them in for the first few days as a safety measure). If it weren't for the arithmia she would be out of the PICU so hopefully that will happen tomorrow afternoon.
