James Birthday!

Wow what a day! James turned 2 today. It was such a good day, especially since James has been sick all week. He woke up so happy today it was a miracle compared to the rest of the week. We spent the day playing, cleaning and decorating. James loved all of it. He loved cleaning, he loved the balloons and instructing me where to put them. And we even got a mini (I mean mini) photo shoot. He only let me take 2 pictures before he only wanted to take the picture and not be in the picture but they were 2 great pictures so it was worth it. Since we didn't have any family coming for James birthday we decided to invite James' nursery friends and neighbors. Lets just say that once the friends started showing up James knew that it was his day. He was soooo excited about everything. Every time he heard a knock on the door he would run to see who was showing up and greet them enthusiastically and then pull the kid into what ever chasing/balloon games they were into. He ran around the house cheering and saying 'yeah!' at everything. It was great to see him have such a good time. Once everyone showed up 6 kids total from ages 1 to 5 but mostly 2 showed up we brought out the cake. That brought out a whole new round of ooohs and aaahs and mostly a lot of 2 year olds scrambling to get up on the table. James was thoroughly impressed (as he should be it took a lot of time). He was so cute about everything it made all of the effort to get ready for it worth it. Once we loaded the kids up on cake and ice cream we opened presents. Christmas was very helpful for James because now he knew exactly what to do with presents and it took him no time to start tearing into them. He got a new bedspread (we will see if he will use it, right now he will only sleep with his blue blankie which gets a little cold at night), lego mega blocks (a lot of them!), a tool set (Thanks Michelle!), and a home made quiet book from Grandma and Grandpa Snow. Overall the tool set won out. It was the only the any of the kids wanted to play with the rest of the evening and fortunately there were enough small parts for them all to have something. Once all the chaos calmed down and the party came to an end James said goodbye to all of his friends and then headed to bed (an hour past his bed time). I think his birthday was a hit and I think we had almost as much fun as he did... almost. (As a side note Madeline really was there she just didn't make any of the pictures because she was asleep most of the party and we were trying to keep her sheltered from the kids) But the party wore her out too.
