Every once in a while something grabs my attention that I just can't keep my mouth shut about. Aaron would say this happens more often than not but that is just to him and not a public announcement. I remember in high school when we watched video in history class about the working conditions in mills in the 1800's. I left the class in tears and talked/ranted about it for months after. Don't get me started again. Again in college we had to write a paper in English about a current issue and take a side and defend it. I chose the current issue of the college trying to pass a new regulations requiring every student to have their own health insurance. After turning the paper in to my teacher, I also turned into an editorial for the school newspaper.
Now the bug hits again and this is the only place to express my opinion so if you aren't interested stop reading and you can pick up with more family fun next week.
Today I was scanning through facebook while the kids were/are napping and found a post on a group for 'Wear Pants to Church on Sunday.' I went on to the link and started investigating. Basically if you haven't heard, there is a 'movement' for LDS women to wear pants on Sunday to protest inequality. I was truly saddened as I read this for so many reasons. I feel that Sacrament meeting on Sunday is the most sacred part of my week. It is the chance for me to worship my Heavenly Father and renew my covenants I have made with him. Because of this I wear my best, my best being a dress. I feel that I am honoring and respecting my Heavenly Father when I do so.
That being said, I am not against other's choosing to wear something different. I have on occasion seen people come to church in pants or levis for various reasons. This does not bother me by any means. I am grateful they came to church and were attending. What people choose to wear to church is their personal decision I am more concerned with a person wanting to worship their Heavenly Father than what they are wearing. That being said, I am against people using the Sacrament meeting as a place for protest or to make a statement. It is a time and place to honor and worship. It is sacred and a time to be reverenced. If somebody feels that they are being discriminated against there is a time and place and person (bishop/stake president) that they can talk to. There is more to this than I could care to get into. I believe that we have been given specific roles for a purpose. I am truly blessed to have this knowledge and understanding in my life. I am grateful for the role of being a mother, I am grateful that my role is one of nurturing and teaching my children.
I feel that what I wear is an outward way of showing my respect. This Saturday I will be attending my Grandfather's funeral. He was a wonderful man, who was a loving husband to my grandmother, and lover of nature, and had faith in God. I will be wearing a dress as I attending his funeral in honor of his life and the memories he left me. Sunday I will wear a dress to honor my Heavenly Father for blessing he gives and the eternal covenants I have made with him.

I completely agree! I do not enjoy wearing dresses, or pantyhose for that matter. But, I feel it is one small way that I can show respect and reverence for things that I hold Sacred. I don't care what anyone else wears to church, but I feel it my privilege to show gratitude for everything I have been given in every small way possible!
I love this post. I absolutely agree with you! I doubt that all guys like wearing white shirts and ties, but they do because they wear their best. Women should wear their best also. Great post!
I heard about this on the news! I agree with you! Thanks for posting!
