We are finally back from our Christmas traveling. It was quite the trip but we enjoyed seeing all the family and it was well worth it. Aaron set a driving timer in his truck when we left and it it recorded almost 30 hours of driving in our 9 days of vacation. Lucky for us, we have super amazing kids to travel really well. We didn't have a single meltdown (in the car that is) the entire trip. Amazing, I know. We started out our trip and Aaron's Dad's house where we spent our pre-Christmas time hanging out with the family, doing some last minute Christmas shopping, taking the kids to see Santa (see previous post), and trying to catch some sleep since both James and Madie were sick.
Yup you read correctly both of our kiddos were sick for Christmas. It was so sad. James had a running fever for nearly 5 days which included before, during, and after Christmas. He cheered up Christmas eve for all of our running around but the evening went down hill and didn't recover in time for Christmas. He was so tired we didn't do any Christmas Eve activities and he asked to go to bed before we could read the nativity, put cookies out for Santa, or set the stockings out.
Welcome Christmas morning, James was up super early and he hadn't slept all night,we tried to keep him entertained while we waited downstairs for the rest of the family to wake up including Madie. Finally we were all awake and we headed up stairs for presents.
Since James wasn't feeling good the only thing he wanted was his 'yellow car.' He just kept trying to figure out which present had his car in it and once he found it he was pretty much done opening present.
We showed up just in time for dinner and to visit with the cousins. James still wasn't feeling good and just wanted to snuggle up and read books.
James finally started feeling a little better the next day and once the cousins showed up he was good to go. I honestly hardly saw either of my children the rest of the time and grandma and grandpa Snow's house because they were always off playing with the other cousins. I basically only saw then for meals and nap time. I had a great time visiting with my parents and Aaron and I even got to slip out to go see Les Miserable one evening.
We ended our trip and Grandma and Grandpa Millers house in Lyman. While there, Aaron and I celebrated out 5 year wedding anniversary and the grandparents were gracious enough to take the kids for a night so we could go out on a date.
We had such a great time being with family this Christmas. It is truly what made this Christmas so wonderful. We are looking forward to another year full of adventures and change. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
