Titus's Room!

NOTE: This post is especially for my mom. I've been telling her about the projecting I've been doing in Titus's room and she wanted to see how it turned out.

When we moved into the house I was super excited that I would have a nursery for the first time ever! With both James and Madie we never had an extra room to use as a nursery. Soooo long story short Titus is now 6 months old and he is finally in his own room! I still have some minor stuff to add, a lamp, a few pictures on the dresser etc.

The clouds are all fabric that I applied using a 1:1 ratio cornstarch and water mixture. I was a little dubious of it when I tried it but it worked great and was super quick to put up. It has been up for nearly 2 months an no signs of coming off.

I already had the blue panels up from when we moved in and wanted to keep using them but the room needed black out curtains as well since Titus sleeps much better in a dark room. I bought the blackout material from Joann's and figured I wouldn't do anything fancy since they were just going behind the panels anyway. But then I figured I would just paint some clouds on it just so it had a little something, then I thought I would have Aaron do a plane and next thing you know we ended up curtain above. (I'm grateful I have such an awesome husband who can free hand stuff for me when ever I need). Everything including the green trim is just blackout material and craft paint. But I really love how they turned out. Also they can still be rolled up and hooked with the buttons so we can get natural light during non nap time hours.
The next project was doing his name. Just scrapbook paper and covered cereal boxes but I actually really like how they come out from the wall.

I saw a picture similar to this on pinterest and knew I wanted to paint one for Titus's room. It is my first major painting experiment and although it is obviously very simple I was happy with the results. The planes are folded paper airplanes glued on so they actually have some dimension to it that the picture doesn't give justice.

The mobile was more paper airplanes folded out of map paper. James especially had fun helping me make this one although he mostly just wanted to see how well they actually flew.

I absolutely love it. What great ideas and I love how you shared how you made each thing. I am not good at decorating and sometimes buying all the materials can be expensive, but this post has motivated me. I love the cereal box letters and the material clouds. Such a cute room
