Madeline's Birthday

I can't hardly believe Madie is 3 already! One of the reasons we chose to move was to be closer to family and having Madie's birthday with so many family members there was so rewarding. We just had a BBQ, cake and ice cream, and presents. I wasn't sure if Madie was going understand would completely understand but as a laid her down for her nap Saturday afternoon I told her we were going to have a birthday party for her and she got a big grin and stared giggling. She had a blast the entire time and was appropriately impressed with all the presents although slightly annoyed she couldn't play with them as soon as she opened them.

James was determined that if it was a birthday party we needed birthday games. So we broke out the bubbles for all the kids and the sandbox was a big hit.
I've been wanting to learn how to make frosting roses for a while and took the opportunity to learn from my mom for Madie's birthday. They cake was a lot of fun to make even though I learned the hard way why cake decorators use coloring paste instead of food coloring when the colors bleed into the white frosting. I'm just glad I took a picture as soon as I finished it.
Madie was all about the ice cream. The cake was good but she couldn't get enough ice cream. Even after the party she was trying to serve ice cream up to people so they would keep sharing with her. But when you have homemade peach ice cream who wouldn't want to eat it all night.
She was completely spoiled with presents with lots of cute clothes, shoes, toys, and books. However I think the best wrapping job goes to Aunt Gentry with Frozen wrapping paper. She wanted to keep the wrapping paper as much as the presents.
Thank you everyone who came out. We had a wonderful time and are so grateful for all of our family!
