Welcome to the Spectrum

During spring semester, Aaron and I enjoy going to basketball games here at the Spectrum when work and our schedules allow. We thought that we would share this experience for those who have either never been to a USU Aggies home game or as a reminder of the good ol' days for those who have moved on in life beyond the Spectrum and the wonderful Aggie games. The first thing one must know when going to a game is the "Scotsman" the traditional rally song. Of course it has actions as well and all are very important. For the first verse you wave your hands above your head like you are herding cattle. For the second verse you move your hands up down in opposing directions to imitate milking a cow. Of course if people milked like they do the "Scotman" all the cows would be utterly udderless. The most entertaining point is watching the entire student body do this at once. So here a video that doesn't give you the full effect becuase it was off my phone but it helps. Oh and Aaron's singing voice is horrible. This song is set just in the worst range possible.

The next important thing to realize is that the Spectrum is famous for taunting players on the other team. The next video is one such poor player who in the first 5 minutes of the game airballed a shot. After that the entire staduim would yell airball if he even touched the ball. This continued for the entire game. He only made one basket after his airball.
Another standard sign of support is raising your hands when our team is up for a free throw. It gets really quite and when they make it the whole stadium says, "Whoooosh!" I know its kind of lame but we like it anyway.
This is the final score for the game. We won! Of course. The Aggies very, very rarly ever loose at home and this year they are 23-1 for the season putting them in the number 25 slot so far. This is the current best start record for the school, it's the best start in NCAA men's basketball, they have the longest winning streak in the NCAA, and the longest home-winning streak with 30+ and O, and the best home record in the NCAA. GO AGGIES! When we win a game the "A" on old main turns Blue We hope you enjoyed your short tour of the Spectrum and if you have any desire to come to a game there are still a few home games left and we would love for anyone to come. They are awsome games!
