Now that James is over 1 and over 20 pounds we have him facing forward in the car. It is wonderful. He hated facing backwards and would throw a fit every time we opened the car door. The first time we put him forward he would just spontaneously start laughing and giggling. It was so cute. And the plus side he actually likes riding in the car now. It is so much easier for us. The best part is that we can now actually see what he is doing. Our favorite is watching him dance. This is just a short clip I recorded from my phone of him dancing to his favorite song "Sic' Him on a Chicken" a funny song by the Zac Brown Band. I wish I could have gotten more he actually has quite the variety of moves. (I was not driving when this video was taken, James and I were waiting for Aaron while he was inside)

I'm so glad somebody follows the rules. Daisy was exactly like how you describe James. If I would've waited until she was 20lbs...Page would've been born seriously!! As for Page, she is sitting foward and at 19lbs, and has been since she was 17 lbs at 11 months. It was just easier on me. Opps. Maybe I'll have a child like yours that grows and ages at the appropiate rate so I can follow the rules too!
Awesome.
