The past month

Well it seems like every time I want to blog I think, 'well, not much has happened I don't have anything to blog about.' Well today I was uploading pictures and realized that although there hasn't been anything huge James is growing so fast and I can't help but want to share and document (for me) some of his newest antics which are:

-Playing finger games- he loves 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, and 5 Little Monkeys Swinging in a Tree. He will follow the actions for the entire song. I really want a video of it but he never wants to perform when the camera is running.
-Dipping his food- James saw me eating carrots and ranch one day and decided he needed to be like Mom. Now if there is any kind of sauce he wants some too. It is so cute because he will say 'dip, dip, dip' as he dips it. He loves it so much he actually insisted on having ranch to dip his cake in one night for dessert. He refused to even try a piece without it. He did eat his entire piece with Ranch.
-Understanding instructions. I love how I can tell him to go pick something up, or throw it away and he does it (most of the time). It is so great to see how he is learning and wants to be just like Mom and Dad.
-New words, It seems like James is learning a new word or animal sound every day. Some of his latest are: car, clock, dip, pop, baby, go, hot (everything is hot including crackers, milk, and any other food item) bee (which is bird) roar, neigh, and hop. And I am not including words he learned last month. This little boy is getting to be quite the talker.
-He is in love with trains and specifically Thomas the Train. We have one Thomas dvd which Aaron and I are both very tired of because James always wants to watch it. We try to only put it on once a day (it has 7 minute shows which is nice) but even then we have the whole think memorized. All cars, truck, or automobile says 'choo choo' but they are called 'cars'. He is saying 'choo choo' pretty much all day because he carries the DVD case around with him most of the time.
I did realized as I was typing this up that we did have a few memorable events in the past month or so that were never mentioned.
First, Aaron was accepted to Grad School! He is already started on his Master's projects so it is a good thing he is official now. Next, Aaron ran his first 10k in March. He did really well coming in with a time of 54 minutes. Not bad for a first run. Also he has lost more than 50 lbs in the past year. He is looking pretty darn good if I do say so myself.
Before the run. I walked with James on the 5k while Aaron ran the 10k.
Yes, I know he looks awesome.
Second, over conference weekend we had our first trip to the ER. James fell off a chair in the kitchen and hit his head. He started throwing up right after so we took him in. He had a minor concussion but was okay in the end. It was not the way we planned on spending the weekend but were glad he was ok. After we got home and he took a nap he was right back to his cheerful self.
So if you have managed to read all of my jabbering, you must be either really bored or actually interested in our lives. Thanks! As a reward here are some cute random pictures from the past month.
