May craziness

So May hasn't been any calmer so far than April. I guess the kids decided that we needed some more quality family time and contracted Hand, Foot, and Mouth so we were all quarentined in the house for basically 2 weeks. Madie came down with it first, passed it to Titus, and then James, and then to Aaron. Somehow Levi and escaped. Madie and Aaron had it the worst by far. They had blisters and rashes everywhere on their face, hands, and feet. Aaron said it felt like when your hands fall asleep and then when you get them moving and they are tingly but x100. Madie had such a hard time sleeping we ended up on the couch watching Daniel Tiger until 4 in the morning one night just because everything hurt so much she couldn't sleep even with the pain killers. Titus had a milder case of it and his worst night was only up until midnight. James only got the fever for a day and no rash but we still kept him home from school the rest of the week just to be safe.

Aaron had a pretty bad case of it and ended up missing work on Friday because he couldn't stand or close his hands at all. He did have the weekend to get through the worst of it and then when he did go back to work they basically had him out doing field work by himself so he did have to be in contact with anybody. But to say the least it was really miserable went right over Mother's day when Aaron had it the worst so he couldn't hardly move off the couch there was no way the rest of us were going to church. I was feeling rather sorry for myself at the start of the day but decided that wasn't going to help anything so instead I scrounged around, borrowed some buns from a neighbor and grilled hamburgers for dinner and made an apple pie that was fantastic. (NOTE: My family did a Mother's Day 2.0 today and let me sleep in, made a fantastic breakfast for me and did a do over for the week before when everyone was sick.)

In the middle of having the plague Aaron's A/C in his car went out(this is before he started having symptoms, Wednesday morning we were going to follow him in so he could drop his car off to get repaired and then drop him off at work. On they way there my tire of the van blew and causing about $2800 worth of damage to the front end. Since I was following Aaron he turned around and put the spare on and we limped over to a tire shop we had just passed. Aaron went in and told them what happened and that all of our kids in the car were sick so we didn't want to come into the store. They had us pull in the the garage and changed the tires with all of us sitting in the van. James thought it was awesome. They were amazing and had us out the door in less than 20 minutes of pulling up to the store. Fortunately the insurance is covering repairs after our deductible but for now I am driving Aaron's car every where with the kids crammed in and Aaron is driving his work truck. To say the least meeting our home, car, and medical deductibles in two months time is a little crazy. Hopefully we can keep things a little more low key for the while...
