Happy Fathers Day! Before I get into the review of our Father's day activities I have to take a moment to so thank you to my dad and all the other dad's in our family. I love my father so much. He truly taught me to work hard and to love working hard. He taught me my sense of humor although I think at times my mom would have preferred I didn't, we tended to gang up her especially at dinner time when I was the only one left at home. But I guess it comes full circle because now I am the one getting teased by my husband about all of the forgetful things I do in my crazy mother brain. So thank you dad for always being there for me. Thank you.
I also have to say thank you to Aaron's father. He is incredibly kind and compassionate and I know that Aaron's generosity and loyalty comes from his dad. Thank you Darrol for a wonderful son.
(You can't tell they are related can you?)
Last of all thank you Aaron, my amazing husband! He is truly the perfect man for me. He makes sure I am spoiled and keeps me laughing. He is a great dad who loves James and Madie and isn't too proud to apologize to a two year old when he makes a mistake or snaps after a very long and stressful day. He isn't perfect but he is always trying his best and will always put his family first. Thank you Aaron.
As for our Father's day celebrations, we decided to go out to eat Friday night at a place called Guido's in downtown Boise. (Aaron had to leave after church on Sunday so he wasn't going to get a Father's Day dinner.) It is run by a guy originally from New Jersey so it is some real New York Pizza. It was delicious and HUGE. This is the medium.
Madeline really wanted wanted some too
After we were driving home and decided we still needed some dessert. We have had problems trying to find a place that is open past 5 here. Seriously it is crazy. But on our way home we passes a place called Uncle Giuseppe's Italian Eatery. This was a true Italian place. The owners were from Queens 'born and raised' and worked at the Co-op making pasta and such until they retired, followed their daughter to Boise and decided to open a business. They are really known for their sandwiches and canolies. It was like stepping into a little piece of New York. The cheesecake was unlike any I have ever had. It is made with ricotta cheese instead of cream cheese as a true Italian cheese cake. And the canolies were AMAZING. It made for an awesome night and great Father's day outing.
Sunday we had a great breakfast and some time relaxing before heading to church. My favorite part of the day was when all the men and young men stood up to sing 'Ye Elder's of Israel' in sacrament. It sounded amazing although James was very distraught that Aaron was not sitting with us. As soon as they finished James bolted up the isle yelling "DAD" and grabbed him around the legs with a big hug. It was the perfect way to celebrate Fathers Day. Happy Father's Day to all of those amazing dads out there and especially to my dad and my husband.
