Pie Contest

I got to compete in my first pie competition this weekend. Middleton was had a Harvest Festival with a pie competition. I knew I was going to put in as soon as I read it in the newspaper. However after reading the rules my specialty pie was out (No refrigerated/cream pies). So I started searching for something unique and competition worthy and after talking with my amazing gourmet cooking sister Aaryn (Whom I am grateful I don't have to compete against because I would be squashed) I decided on a double crust caramel apple pie.

 I made it Friday night and by the time I went to bed I was certain my pie was not competition worthy. However, I guess I was my own worst critic because I surprised both myself and Aaron with a 1st place pie and $100 prize winnings to go with it! Now I just have to start planning how to defend my title for next year, I'm thinking strawberry rhubarb....
