The same week Madie had her Tonsils removed we also had the ward talent show. Aaron and I had both signed up to do a talent as well as I was supposed to bring some of the food. Well the talent show was Friday night which was the same night Madie had just been released from the Riverton hospital. I was told we would be going home at 4 and since the talent show wasn't until 7 I wasn't too concerned about making it on time. We didn't end up leaving the hospital until after 5:30 but it is still only a 30-35 minute drive home. Well we hit the WORST traffic ever that night it took us over an hour to get home and even Aaron who hits the same route coming home from work everyday says it was the worst he had ever seen on that stretch. I barely pulled into our house at 6:45 ran in and changed my 2 day hospital clothes, attempted to fix my hair and put on make-up and not look like I had just woken up for the day and dash back to the church to practice the duet I was performing that night before the actual show. Fortunately since my mom was there we could leave Madie home who was super tired by then and just take James and Titus with us.
We did make it in time and James and Aaron did nun chucks (James really has no idea what he is doing but he is super cute up there swinging it around and do ninja kicks). Then Aaron kicked James of the stage and got serious. He was a little rusty and had intended to practice but the crazy week with Madie and him putting in some extra long hours prevented it. It was still awesome. I played a clarinet duet with a friend in the ward who is really good on the clarinet. It was a lot of fun to get to play even though we only practiced once at my house and ran through it one more time right before the performance. We did 2 Jazzy pieces in hopes of keeping it entertaining. The nice part about being a jazzy piece there are so many accidentals and off beats no on can tell when you aren't perfect. I wish I would have had a little more practice the week of but Aaron said it still sounded great and he is usually a pretty honest critic.
